Looking forward to another Magdalena Yoder mystery..thanks!!!
Well, it didn't take long for me to get annoyed by these books..this is the 3rd Magdalena Yoder book book I've read, and probably the last, though I do have Gruel and Unusual Punishment on my bookshelf. I just don't think she's cute any more. The whole bit about wailing, the brother-in-law who looks like a praying mantis, the "if I made myself a sandwich I could have a family picnic" joke...oy, she's as predictable as Encyclopedia Brown (currently slogging through those with my 7 year old)..
Skimmed this to the end and am now offering it to whomever..will perhaps try to trade on the Cozy Mystery relay...

I loved the first Magdalena Yoder book I read (Between a Wok and a Hard Place) Maybe the problem with this series is that it just doesn't wear well...but if someone has never read one of these way-cozy mysteries, perhaps they'll find it charming..I hope so, as I'm off to put it in fourthofjuly's Cozy Bookbox 3...
I have never read one of these, so I look forward to it -- and am forewarned not to read more than one or two of these! (Having read most of the Magic Tree House books with my class, I get it!)
This is the first book of this series that I've read, so it is all fresh to me. I saw that it was on a friend's wish list (along with the Chocolate Cat Caper), so I decided to bump them to the top of Mt. TBR. I started reading this one last night (as a break from my war-torn New Guinea book) and finally went to bed after 146 pages. I loved it! I like the main character's voice and observations of what goes on around her. Any book that begins "Amish men rarely get pregnant" sounds like a winner to me! I will mail this book to bilbi in France as soon as I finish (both books). Thank you so much for putting this in the Cozy Mystery box!

Yes, I should like this book ! As we say in France : "miam miam" !!
I really enjoyed this story. Tamar Myers is not published in France and it's great to discover new female mystery writers !
I found the book quite funny and I liked to get acquainted to Amish people.
I'm starting a 'ray with it to share the story with others...

My first encounter with Magda Yoder. She reminded me of the far cousin of Stephanie Plum, of course they don't share the same religious beliefs (steph plum's are rather italian food and small and tight dresses), but they have the same way to bump into corpse, or to go asking dangerous questions to people around, trying to solve mysteries. And also they are both obsessed with the male gender ;)
The amish background - as well as the Inn and its famous guests - are quite interesting, but seemed a little exaggerated to me.
Not so bad, perfect for the summer. But it did not make me want to read other books from the serie. Nevetheless, I'll copy and try some day the recipes...
will send it to kundri soon.

I found this book yesterday evening, coming back from a ten-days long business travel. Thank you everybody!
I liked the Amish background. But this mytery was a little bit too "cosy" for me. Enjoyable, though.
My mom told me today that they received the book at home a few days ago. Thanks for the message, Kundri! It will be the first book I read when I come back from Montreal.
It's pretty difficult for me to decide if I liked this book or not. Sometimes I thought it was funny and sometimes I got bored by Magdalena's character. Anyway, reading it was a good experience, first because I always enjoy reading in English and then because of the humor and the reference to the Amish community, almost unknown in France.
I'll send the book to Kanapoutz as soon as I get his/her address.
