Jack Holland is captain on Quantum Airlines Flight 66 from Frankfurt to New York in a Boeing 747. A passenger falls ill, and a doctor on board diagnoses a heart attack, and says he needs immediate treatment, but as they are preparing to land they are told by air traffic control to return to Germany, because the passenger has been exposed to a dangerous flu virus. Then Germany rejects them, and suddenly they are on a flight to nowhere.
