Having lived in Japan and taught English there as does main character Marina, I chuckled at the letters between her and her teaching supervisor regarding garbage, conduct, appearances, and everything that matters to the Japanese but seems to by pass American sensibilities. Poignant, yet funny, If You Follow Me is a good read.
