Perfect strangers. A perfect holiday. The perfect murder...Three couples meet around the pool on their Florida holiday and become fast friends. But on their last night, their perfect holiday takes a tragic twist: the teenage daughter of another holidaymaker goes missing, and her body is later found floating in the mangroves. When the shocked couples return home, they remain in contact, and over the course of three increasingly fraught dinner parties they come to know one another better. But they don't always like what they find: buried beneath these apparently normal exteriors are some dark secrets, hidden kinks, ugly vices...

Then, a second girl goes missing. Could it be that one of these six has a secret far darker than anybody can imagine? A brilliantly plotted, utterly gripping thriller about the danger of making friends on holiday

I love, love, LOVE charity shops - this book only came out last month & I've picked it up for £2.50 - bargain or what?!!

Will let my Dad read it first, then back to me & then onto KawaskiBabe. Hope Dad isn't too long with it....

Dad was a bit disappointed with this in the first few chapters & didn't think he'd like it but he soon changed his mind! Me? I was hooked from the start & couldn't put it down. I was also right about the killer but there were plenty of red herrings to make me doubt my choice & keep me gripped. Saving this to pass to KawasakiBabe at our next meet-up...

... & fingers crossed that there'll be a new Thorne tale out before long :o)

Saving this Mark Billingham for my next weekend away in the caravan: the new site is peaceful and remote. Perfect for a reading marathon! Thanks Plumster, I've been looking forward to getting my hands on this . . . x

Be warned - this book will lull you into a false sense of chill-out-by-the-pool . . . and then you'll kick yourself for not paying attention! Half way through and I think I know whodunnit . . . but this is Mark Billingham, and, hey! anything's possible
(scribbled on a note whilst at the caravan for New Year)

Finished it, and I WAS RIGHT YIPPEE!! (So, I see, was Plum-crazy)
A few questions remain unanswered which I won't even mention, 'cause I know I'm far too picky, but on the whole I LOVED it, thank you Plum-crazy.
A brave subject to choose, and very well done - and I was thrilled with Thorne's cameo appearance . . . to me, there are indications there could be a sequel. After all, Thorne has to get back into CID somwehow or another, and he needs something pretty spectacular for that . . .
Released to the queue at the Blood Donor Session. Blood Rush. Get it? Course you do . . .
