Have only begun reading it - alas right at the beginning of the book the main character has to go to the dentist, which visit is described quite vividly, and as I do not like dentist visits at all, I did not read on.

Therefore this average rating of 5.

Definitely not a dentist's story... ;)

I did like the british english. I was a little confused by the author's refusal to reveal Katherine's country of origin ( I assume it was Germany - the book's events taking place between late 1930s and 1944); the story wasn't really my cup of tea, and somehow it resembled a classic Rosamunde Pilcher-like story. So it took me quite a long time to go through it...
