Journal Entry 1 by Floribu from Hamburg - Eppendorf, Hamburg Germany on Wednesday, May 16, 2012
One of the best books I've read last year. It is gruesome and heartbreaking, violent and tender. How Emma Donoghue writes with the voice of a five-year-old is awesome.
This is a book which will stay in my heart and mind for a long, long time!

Picked up at the meetup today. Floribu and I spoke about it at last year's Berlin Uncon. Thank you!

"Jack is five. He lives in a single, locked room with his Ma."

Also one of my highlights this year. I was a bit apprehensive at first, after I figured out what it was about. But the view of the boy is so very well done that it captured me right away and I finished it within 3 days.

Journal Entry 9 by LilyKlip at Leipzig, Sachsen Germany on Wednesday, January 14, 2015
The book has arrived in Germany. It's a good one - I read it in 2012 actually. So, I will just hold on to it for a few weeks and then pass it on.

Good choice though, Icila!

I read the book a few years ago. It was really good and stayed with me for quite a while.

Journal Entry 12 by bluezwuzl at Altdorf (Niederbayern), Bayern Germany on Tuesday, February 10, 2015
The book arrived on Saturday - together with two other ring-books... Looks like I'll have a busy month... *<;-)
This is not an easy read but in the end I was glad I have been introduced to it. It is one of those books that makes it hard to reconcile to the fact you can't influence the story...
It now is on its journey to katrinat (having skipped the participants who had already read it).

Journal Entry 13 by wingearthcaroleannewing at Falkirk, Scotland United Kingdom on Sunday, March 29, 2015
I've read this already so it is skipping me in the roundabout but I wanted to leave my review for everyone else. Looking back at my review I've got to say I'm surprised and how short it is and it doesn't really seem like I enjoyed it much but it is a book that has stayed with me. At the time I was reading all the books on the Booker Prize List and hating every one of them so maybe I wasn't in the best reading mood when I picked this up. Also, I found the 5-year-old 'speak' difficult to get my head around. However it did become a book I couldn't put down.

Journal Entry 14 by katrinat at Leigh-on-Sea, Essex United Kingdom on Thursday, April 2, 2015
I have already read this when it first came out - I'm having the same issue with the book I sent out as my favourite - however I'd quite like to reread this and it won't take me long to read it.

Journal Entry 15 by katrinat at Leigh-on-Sea, Essex United Kingdom on Sunday, June 14, 2015
Sorry for the delay in posting I finished this about 3 weeks ago when I was staying at my mums and then left it behind by mistake. I enjoyed rereading this, it's just as harrowing the second time around. I'll see who is left on the list to read this. Thanks

got it

update:
The last of the roundabout package I received, the ROOM proved to be a bit of a challenge. First I didn't really want to read it, because of the topic. I'm due in November this year and found it hard to cope with the boy's voice relating such a terrible story.
I came round and did read it in the end, even if it was hard to do at times. The book was quite a good read, although some parts seemed to stretch quite a bit. As Austrian I know a bit about the side of media coverage, as we had similar cases in recent years. So interesting if not easy.

Arrived today! This book has been on my radar for a while, and I couldn't make up my mind whether I wanted to read it or not. So I'm glad it has shown up in the roundabout - decision made!

Journal Entry 19 by wingFifnawing at Voorburg, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Monday, October 19, 2015
I was very apprehensive about this book, but I'm glad I read it. Difficult yet engaging, even though the five-year old voice grated a little at times. Thank you for sharing - good choice for the roundabout.
