Journal Entry 1 by Kemppu from Tampere, Pirkanmaa Finland on Tuesday, May 15, 2012
Rachel, the middle sister of the Irish Walsh family, lives in New York and likes to party. Work and relationships come second, the most important thing for her is to have fun. Rachel thinks her life is great! However, she suddenly wakes up in a hospital after a drug overdose. That's when her family makes her go to a rehab centre in Ireland. That's actually alright for Rachel, because she thinks that in an expensive treatment centre she can have a great holiday and gets to know celebrities. However, the place isn't at all what Rachel expected, and slowly she begins to realize that she really is a drug addict. Rachel gets scared: Will she ever be alright and is it already too late to apologize to the loved ones she has hurt? In my opinion, Rachel's Holiday is Marian Keyes' best novel. It's an quick and easy-to-read book with a serious topic. I bought the book at Red Cross' Kontti store in Tampere.
