It seems to me I hadn't read anything by this author for a while. I do remember feeling some of her stories were close to tear-jerkers... and she does play the poignant card very well. This being said, I very much enjoy this author's writing - and her stories, which I suppose affect me they way they do because they resonate for me.
Here, as is often the case, I went in blind, with no idea of the book's premise or plot. (I often find that even reading the back cover proves to be a bit of a spoiler, so especially when dealing with an author I've appreciated in the past, I just dive into the story). I found the story line original and thought it was a great read. I've pumped up my bookmooch wishlist to include more books I've yet to read by this author, and have already been able to request two so far.

I started to read this one at first because she wrote it before 'Magic Hour' (even though those books aren't connected in anyway).
In the beginning I was on the verge of stopping because it was so very sad. Having a 9y old boy myself I could imagine how devastating it must be for him if something like that would happen to me!
I realized that I was always kind of depressed when I read the book in the evening and then went to bed..
So I thought of stopping.
But I continued and it became more bearable for me. The story was good and interesting and very probable.
I am thinking now of sending this one already on its way to Taiwan - even though it is a 'spiral' - but I might read a book by a different author in between.

This was a bit of a surprise when it arrived in the mail. I had almost forgotten I had signed up for this. :P I have never read anything by Kristin Hannah, though I have heard/seen the name quite often. Looking forward to give it a try.

I finished this a few months ago, but looks like I forgot to make a JE.
This isn't my usual kind of read, I prefer to stay away from sad stories, however I quite liked the writing style of Kristin Hannah. She pulls you into the story and it reads very easily. So, it was a nice read, even though it was also sad.
