One of baskets full of books that I bought at the Giant Book Sale, a fund-raiser held twice a year for the Phoenix Association (animal rescue). There were over 15,000 books to choose from, only 1 euro each. So much temptation to load the car, but I managed to restrain myelf!

I was a bit discouraged at first to discover that this book told the story backwards in time, which I thought might spoil the element of surprise of how things work out the final ending. I soon got caught up in the grip of discovering how Wilberforce's childhood and events through his life had brought him to his life as we find him at the beginning of the book.
A sad story cleverly told. A further interest for me was a description of the wines, most of which come from this region of France. I have tried Pomerols, but have yet to sample the very famous and expensive Margaux and Petrus wines...of any year!
