Well Written fantasy about dragons, royalty, and a bit of romance. I enjoyed this one very much.

I absolutely LOVED this (although there were spots where I thought the characters acted with an utter lack of common sense. If you know the altar was used recently and there's trouble afoot, why not guard it?); it's a cross between Anne McCaffrey and Robin Hobb, both of whom are writers I adore, and for the same reason I loved this: it's obvious that the author, who doesn't appear to have written anything after the sequel to this, sees these characters as though they are real, living people. It just shines off the page.

I'm going to let my husband read it next and then either offer it on the relays or else at PaperbackSwap.com -- and the hunt for the sequel begins!

I liked this book very much even though it had a lot of fantasy cliches. The only part that really bothered me was the battle over the regency. It felt like too much of a plot device to get the Dragonlords to the city rather than a necessary part of the plot. Also, Beren looked to be not such a great regency candidate, but in the end he and his wife almost seemed to be different people.
