This is a very interesting book that describes, with vivid imagination and solid research, what the world will be like without us. The author considered things from a lot of angles: the domesticated animals that we tried so hard to breed to our specs, the arts we created, the cities we built, the tons of plastics we discarded...

In some way, it makes me want us human being to disappear soon... it feels like we wreck so much havoc on this earth, she and the rest of the fauna and flora won't be hard to say good bye.

Definitely worthy reading.

Gripping and terrifying. An absorbing read that effortlessly held my attention whilst revealing just how long it would take this planet to recover from us. In some cases the answer is almost never and this book highlighted the enormous amount of damage we have done and continue to do to our planet, even when considering something as seemingly benign as a bunch of flowers from Kenya. If we don't change our ways, we will disappear slowly and painfully as the planet dies around us. A highly recommended book. Rose in the freezer

There was a television series in the U.S. a few years ago that paralleled the themes in this book; perhaps it was based on the book? Pretty scary the things that would happen if we disappeared suddenly. It makes you think about the things in your own life that you can change to reduce your footprint on the planet. I personally resolve to use less plastic. What will you do?

Sending on to AZquark as part of the wishlist tag game in the forums.

A very interesting and worthwhile book. Still it left me a bit disappointed. Based on the book title, I was expecting more of a speculative examination of how the earth might evolve if humans disappeared. While this is present, it seems to be a small portion of the book. Mainly the book addresses the current state of the world and how this could effect the future. But only occasionally does the author speculate in detail on that future. In some ways it might be better entitled - The World With Us.

What an interesting read. It sat on my shelf for some time and THEN took me some time to get through but the idea is so intriguing while at the same time a bit terrifying. It certainly makes me wonder what kind of planet we are creating/leaving for generations to come... passing along to a co-worker.
