From Amazon: "The victims are always the same: beautiful, successful, and blond. Someone was able to coax these intelligent and confident women away from safety. Someone was able to gain their trust long enough to do the unthinkable. Their shocking murders have terrified the inhabitants of a small, peaceful town where such heinous crimes are simply not supposed to happen. Police Chief Rafe Sullivan knows he has to find answers fast before another woman is lured to her death--but Sullivan literally doesn’t have a clue. And when the FBI sends one of their top profilers to help, he’s more than a little surprised that his new partner is nothing like the straight-by-the-book “suit” he expects.Special Agent Isabel Adams is tough, fearless, determined, and every bit Sullivan’s equal. She’s also psychic. And blond.Skeptical of his new partner’s ability to get inside the mind of a killer, Sullivan can’t deny that Isabel has tuned in to the killer’s wavelength, is following the twisted thoughts of a murderer obsessed with stalking, seduction, and death. But in getting so close, Isabel has set herself up as the next victim. Now, with time running out, she and Rafe will find themselves forced to take the greatest risk of all, because this psychopath is playing for keeps and Isabel is the perfect trophy. Unable to turn back, Isabel may have already gone too far. Smart, savvy, and confident, she may find that the very qualities that have kept her alive could turn out to be her undoing. For Isabel has entered the world of a cold-blooded monster who kills without mercy and eludes every sense but one...the sense of evil."

Started this one last night. So far, so good. I collect quotes as I read. These ones ended up as my sig file and I want to share them with you. Sometimes they're not earth shattering but more often they are ... Take what you like, and leave the rest.

"Patterns are everywhere, Rafe. Events touch other events like a honeycomb, connecting to one another. And seeming coincidences usually aren't." p45

"Okay. It's getting late. Why don't you go back to the inn and soak in the tub, have a hot shower, something like that. Relax. Order a pizza. Watch something mind-numbing on TV for a while."
"Isabel-"
"Hollis, trust me. Take the time while you can, and chill. Just chill. Sleep if you can. Don't think too much. We're just getting started here, and it's only going to get harder."
"I have to learn to handle this."
"Yes. But you don't have to learn everything today. Today you just have to get some rest and centered again. That's all." p107
[comment: I need to reminded that I can't learn everything in one day. It all takes time.]

Going after revenge is like opening a vein in your arm and waiting for somebody else to bleed to death. p176

But as Isabel herself had said, the simplest thing wasn't always the smartest thing. p273

"That's a control issue?"
"Yes. I have to learn to let go, to trust someone else without giving up who I am. And you have to learn to trust yourself in order to be who you need to be." p321

I'm sending this one off to earthangel today. Thanks for sharing the book with me! The information on psychics was very useful for me at this stage on my journey. I have to admit that I didn't know anything about the book when I asked to be on this ring. And now I know why I asked to read it. Spooky :)
