"Nothing links person to person like the frequent passage from hand to hand of a good book."
I enjoyed this book. It took me only two days to read. It's a story about both the past and the present, and is very sad in several ways. I wouldn't want to spoil the read for anyone else, but I'll just say the both Esme's and Kitty's stories are sad and lonely. The ending was fitting and rather appealing. My second book in a row with a main character named "Iris" -- that's strange!

Tragic story on multiple levels. I skipped over parts of it. I agree with JudyGreenEyes about the ending!
