I got this unabridged-audio version of the book some years ago, and enjoyed it very much; narrator David Case does a very good job. But my cassette player no longer works, and I'm getting my audiobooks in MP3 form these days, so this one can move on and amuse someone else!

This is the first "Lord Peter" novel, and some have said it's their least favorite, but I like it very much - not least because of the truly macabre elements of the crime. It opens with Lord Peter being asked to assist a humble architect who's under suspicion of murder - because the body of a total stranger was found dead in the architect's bath, completely nude save for a gold pince-nez. Lord Peter can't resist so bizarre a crime, but as more information comes in, he begins to think there are some questions that shouldn't be answered... Many wonderful recurring characters are introduced here, including Lord Peter's perfect valet, Bunter, his indescribably wonderful mother the Dowager Duchess of Denver, and Charles Parker, good friend to Lord Peter and also an up-and-comer at Scotland Yard. And Sayers' blend of witty repartee and a singularly gruesome set of crimes appeals to me very much.

[See the TV Tropes page for the "Lord Peter" series for some entertaining tidbits.]

The audiobook just came in the mail.

This will by my first Lord Peter Wimsey Mystery. I've heard that these are very good, so I'm looking forward to listening.

I really enjoyed listening to this mystery.
5 cassettes, unabridged, total playing time 6 hours 16 minutes.

I finished the book on February 11, apparently I got a little confused, I didn't realize I had a printed copy of this book as well... Here's the link to the other book: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/9795515
The book didn't disappoint. It's the first Lord Peter Wimsey Mystery. Quite an unusual case, I think, with a naked body found in the bathroom... I had to get used to the - I assume - British accent of the reader David Case which was of course very appropriate for this book.

Apparently, Lord Peter Wimsey has appeared in PBS's Mystery Theatre as well, so I'll look for re-runs and see whether I like those as well.

I'm now reserving it for iwillrejoice's audiobook VBB.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

To be released during the Great Aloha Run Expo, February 12-14. We'll see if it gets claimed, or if it comes back home again.

Wild released for awaywithfairies's Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes Challenge and AlterEgoZoe's Leap into the Wild Challenge.

(Over the course of three days, I took 6 CD audiobooks, 18 cassette audiobooks, and 45 other books to the Great Aloha Run Health & Fitness Expo and left them at the end of the table in our booth. At the end of the last day, the only things left were 3 of the cassette audiobooks. Now let's see if I get any journal entries!)
