9 out of 10

This has been on my To Read List for sometime and I am finally getting around to it. Loved this story of an American young woman trying to discover her mother's Irish roots and the small discarded fishing village bypassed by a new main road that welcomes her.

8 out of 10

Picked up at our June 2012 BC meeting. And into the reading pile it goes!!!

7/19/2012: I had just finished reading a long novel and reached for another heavy tome... but decided to read this book instead. And a good choice it was! This was a quick and pleasant read, despite some sad/difficult occurrences in the story. There was also some delightful humor, such as the various reactions to the lacemakers' modifying their undies with beautiful lace insets. Ireland sounds wonderful... lots of references to the music, the scenery, and the delightful people.

Book to be released at the August 14 meeting of the TriValley BC group in Dublin, California.

a light [yet not lightweight], enjoyable - with sadness as well - read - in the lovely setting of Ireland.

a young American fashion designer, coping with heartbreak and loss, travels to her ancestral Ireland to distract - as well as to reinvent herself.

She connects with a local group of women who make lace; a community of women always makes for a good story!
