This is one of a dozen books that I picked up for under a dollar each at a local yard sale [yes, I did tell the folks there about BookCrossing! ;-)]. I read it when it first came out, and was enthralled by the wonderful world-building that Herbert had done; however, as each sequel came out I was less and less interested, since massive layers of diplomacy and espionage and jockeying for power aren't my favorite things. But "Dune" itself is an original, and still worth exploring...

I left the book on the bench inside the entryway to the restaurant at about 1:30. [This place is right across the road from the post office where I've been making a lot of releases to their book-swap shelf; I know all those books get taken and read, but I seldom get journal entries on them. It remains to be seen if the restaurant is a better release spot, journal-entry-wise!]
