Four short biographies of recent famous British chefs, focussing on their entry into cooking. Most interesting if you already have some background or interest in these chefs. An easy read.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Left on doorstep as cafe closed.
Thought I would visit this cafe on Easter Monday, but it was shut. I peered in all the windows to try and see the size of the OBCZ shelf without any luck, instead I just found myself staring at a woman icing cupcakes - perhaps Martha herself.
As I went to the door to find the opening hours I saw this well placed book sitting snuggly on the doorstep. Nice themed release Pollyanna-n.

Journal Entry 4 by kiwiinengland at Wellington City, Wellington Province New Zealand on Friday, April 13, 2012
Some interesting summaries of these famous (and not so famous) British chefs.
This was written in about 2004, and it is interesting to see in particular how the first two chefs have become more famous. Gordon Ramsey is almost a caricature of the angry chef, and with the present economic crisis is in serious difficulties.
I enjoyed the second chef most, Heston Blumenthal, as I've seen a show he did where his enthusiasm was amazing. He had an fairy tale theme to some of the meal and it really suited his style.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This is being sent to stringofpearls as part of a celebration of St George's day. They enjoy cooking so I hope they enjoy this book.
I read this shortly after you sent it, KiwiinEngland, so I'm slapping my own wrist for not making this journal entry then.
Years ago there was a funny British sit-com called "Chef!" about an arrogant chef bullying his kitchen staff. At the time I thought it was exaggerated though I've since realized it wasn't. Each of these four top chefs describe their rise in a very competitive field. Very interesting!
