Dogs do the doggonest things. They often make us laugh, usually outsmart us, and sometimes break our hearts. No creature can top our canine friends in showing us the absurdities of life and even sex ... or in teaching us about kindness, courage, and love. Now America's number-one dog trainers, Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson, tell us their favorite stories in a book as warm and wonderful as James Herriot's delightful Yorkshire tales, but set in our world and our time.

This book was hilarious at times and truly touching at others! I love dog stories. U..U I read this awhile back and would like to read it again before completely letting it go but that won't be for awhile yet so in the mean time, I'm sending it out in a Book Ring so others can enjoy it as well!

UPDATE -> This ring is now complete and the book is heading back to Alaska to be (probably) reread and then released... Glad everyone got a chance to enjoy it! =)

This book was great. Some of the stories made me sad but most of them made me laugh out loud. I loved the story of the dog who liked female humans a little to much.
Waiting for the address of the next participant so I can send it out.

I've been trying to contact powerslave for some time now, seems that he's been having problems with his computer. Anyway, if he doesn't send me his adress until Monday, I'll send the book to ecmwfinswe, from whom I already received the address.

Journal Entry 9 by powerslave on Tuesday, October 5, 2004
Here it is. I'll read it as soon as possible.

Now... this is one very funny book! Some of the episodes narrated in it are hylarious. Specially the ones in the first and the two last chapters. A lot is still to be known about our little four legged budies, but they can be trully charming and dedicated all throw a lifetime.

Thank you sooooo much havfaith for making this book one of the most funny Brings I've ever joined.

Journal Entry 11 by ecmwfinswe on Monday, November 1, 2004
This book arrived today. I love dogs just as much as I love books so this is a good combination!

Journal Entry 12 by ecmwfinswe on Saturday, December 4, 2004
Yes, I certainly loved the stories. A good mix with comic and seriousness, like it is to be with dogs. Sadness too now and then, I'm especially thinking of Brian's "Irish". Some "tails" too short though, I would like to know a little more about some of the dogs and their humans.
Now the book is going over to Canada.

Journal Entry 13 by crazy-book-lady from Toronto, Ontario Canada on Wednesday, December 29, 2004
Thanks ecmwfinswe! This book arrived during the Christmas holidays - unfortunately we are having computer problems at home, so I had to wait until I was back at work to make a journal entry. I'll add a picture when I can, but until then, there is a picture of my sweet little guy (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) on my bookshelf. He loves to snuggle up on my lap while I read...actually, he loves any activity that keeps me sitting down for long periods of time!

I loved this book! The stories range from touching to hilarious, but make some good points about what owners can do to ensure their dogs are happy and well behaved.

Thanks for starting the bookring havfaith!

Mailed to Pyan on Jan. 7. Enjoy!

Arrived in the today's mail. Can't wait to read it.

It came in a half-open package, but the book itself appears to be okay; little water damage, but not too bad. Really seems like the postal service had fun with this one :(

Journal Entry 16 by Pyan from Menasha, Wisconsin USA on Thursday, February 24, 2005
Oh, such a beautiful book with so many heart-warming stories (though a couple made me cry).

This is a wonderful book! Thank you so much for sharing.

Laugh out loud funny in some parts, poignant to tears in other parts; once again proves that some of my favorite people are dogs! It's prompted me to buy one of their training books. My whole family enjoyed a number of the stories read out loud. Ready to pass on!

Journal Entry 22 by roelina from Grandchester, Queensland Australia on Tuesday, April 5, 2005
'Tails' has arrived in Australia, along with a lovely cumulative collection of doggy photos from ring participants. Very nice (photos AND idea). I'll see if I can find a photo of my sister's legendary red setter, known in our family as Seamus the Wrecker. He could mow all the cups off the coffee table with one blow of his tail, and empty the gold fish pond with two mighty wallows.I see there's a story about a Jack Russell in the book. Good. That'll be entertaining!

Journal Entry 23 by roelina from Grandchester, Queensland Australia on Tuesday, April 12, 2005
Hello all ring participants,
What a lovely book this is, and what amazing creatures dogs (and their owners) are. Thank you very much havfaith for setting up the ring. Unfortunately I don't have a doggy photo to contribute. Sorry. The book is on its way back to you havefaith.

An absolute delight all the way through. I can't add much more to confirm that this is a great little book - I'll be looking for other titles by these authors. My three pugs (a photo, anyway!) will travel along with this book. Thanks for sharing!

Offering up on Book Relay, "A 9 or 10".

Accepted by appaloosatb. To be mailed approximately March 10th.

Mailed March 14th. Sorry for the delay. Enjoy!

Journal Entry 29 by appaloosatb from Rochester, Minnesota USA on Sunday, March 26, 2006
This arrived safely in Minnesota. I can't wait to read it! It will need to sit for a little while before I can dive in since right now my allergy to cigarette smoke is acting up when I open the pages, but hopefully it will be appa-safe soon and ready to be enjoyed yet again. In the meantime, it will have plenty of company on my TBR stack (at one point there was a shelving unit under all the books somewhere, but I think the books ate it as I haven't seen it for months now... *G*).

I live with two pooches, Duke CGC (4 year old yellow lab mix rescue) and Layla (4 month old terrier mix rescue). I am also owned by one Cat, Trouble (7 year old Siamese/Tabby mix rescue). I am a lead instructor for Paws Abilities Dog Training and also work part-time as an animal caretaker at Paws and Claws Humane Society (which is incidentally where I fell in love with Duke and Layla).

The journal photo is of Duke and Layla sharing a bone shortly after Layla came home with us.

Journal Entry 30 by appaloosatb from Rochester, Minnesota USA on Sunday, June 11, 2006
This was a quick, fun read. Thanks again for sharing!

On the subject of dog training, I ran into the lady who surrendered Layla to the dog shelter at a local pet store last week. I was amazed at what she told me! She kept going on about how aggressive Layla was with other dogs and her, and how she was always getting bitten. Since we've never had any problems (and in fact, Layla is one of the most dog-social puppies I know), I can only guess that she wasn't getting any positive boundaries in that lady's house and so decided to run the show herself. It's amazing what a difference a little positive leadership can make! ;)

The journal photo is of Duke after an especially muddy trip to the dog park. More picture of Duke and Layla are available at my website, Crossroads.
