I am not sure why I liked this book so much...it's a wonderful story of family and friendship. It is SO much better than the movie!

I recieved this in the mail today from Melissaparcel as part of a trade. Thanks a lot MelissaParcel.
This is a good book because it not only tells a powerful and sometimes turbulent tale about the bond between mother and daughter and the bond between friends.
Received in the mail from Katt66.
I enjoyed this book, but ,like melissaparcel, I'm not exactly sure why. I think the idea of life-long friendships is very sweet and something we would all like to have. I didn't like that an alcoholic, occasionally abusive, neglectful mother is presented as a sympathetic character because she manages to do it all with such style while other characters are presented in such a bad light for their own foibles.

A wonderful book about mothers and daughters - I can't believe it took me this long to read this book. Memorable characters, luminous prose, a great read.
