Journal Entry 1 by Martie-Kr from Mentor, Ohio USA on Sunday, October 26, 2003
This was an enjoyable read, although it did tell me more about the workings of a dog show that I wanted to know. Max Turnbull and his wife Peg own a kennel with prize-winning Standard poodles. Max is found dead, an apparent victim of a heart attack. However, a prize-winning poodle named Beau is missing and his wife begins to suspect murder. She solicits her niece, Melanie Tarvis, a single mother with a four-year-old son, to help her find the poodle. Melanie begins to unofficially investigate her uncle's murder (even though the police don't think it is).

Since I'm avid about cat shows, this view of dog shows was intriguing. I'd read and enjoyed other Melanie Travis mysteries, it was good to catch up on the first in the series. Thanks for the chance to read this one!

I'm looking forward to this series. I love Susan Conant's dog-lover's mysteries, and these sound similar. Thank you Amber Lee for trading!
