THis is an extra copy for release. Michael Ondaatje is a writer to be appreciated. His poetic writing is exotic and will appeal to those who like novels of quiet depth and vivid imagery.

Being sent by post to rhythmbiscuit in a trade.....hope you enjoy this book. If you do, I highly recommend the English Patient. It seems to only appeal to those who appreciate these type of novels.

Thank you, from-the-coast! I received the book yesterday in the mail. It might be quite a while before I am able to read it, but I'm sure I will enjoy it.

I found this book very interesting. For one, I wasn't aware of Sri Lanka's civil war. For another, I found it interesting that Anil was a forensic anthropologist investigating the buried skeletons of murder victims.

Ondaatje is a highly skilled writer, and I was drawn into the lyrical voice of his writing.

From Amazon...

With his first novel since the internationally acclaimed The English Patient, Booker Prize—winning author Michael Ondaatje gives us a work displaying all the richness of imagery and language and the piercing emotional truth that we have come to know as the hallmarks of his writing.

Anil’s Ghost transports us to Sri Lanka, a country steeped in centuries of tradition, now forced into the late twentieth century by the ravages of civil war. Into this maelstrom steps Anil Tissera, a young woman born in Sri Lanka, educated in England and America, who returns to her homeland as a forensic anthropologist sent by an international human rights group to discover the source of the organized campaigns of murder engulfing the island. What follows is a story about love, about family, about identity, about the unknown enemy, about the quest to unlock the hidden past–a story propelled by a riveting mystery. Unfolding against the deeply evocative background of Sri Lanka’s landscape and ancient civilization, Anil’s Ghost is a literary spellbinder–Michael Ondaatje’s most powerful novel yet.

Wild Released for gypsysmom's 2017 Canada Days Release Challenge - The Sesquicentennial Version 6/24-7/8 http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/23/539149

Written by a Sri Lankan born Canadian Author, and this book began its Bookcrossing Journey with from-the-coast in Victoria, British Columbia!!! : D

I managed to upload the Canada 150 Logo into these Release Notes. Apparently there was quite a bit of controversy surrounding the selection of this one created by a 19 year old student, and this particular version does not list “1867 – 2017” under the logo. HAPPY CANADA DAY my BC Friends to the North!!! : D
