They are hungry for power and they seek blood...
Carpe jugulum (or seize the throat) is Terry Pratchett´s twenty-third novel about the strange Discworld that goes through space on the back of four elephants that in turn stand on the shell of a turtle swimming it´s way through Universe.
This time the king of Lancre have done somthing rather stupid. The invitation for celebrating the baptism for his daughter has gone out to every one, even to the blood-seeking neighbours from Uberwald. And you know that you never should invite ...hmm vampires. Now it is up to the witches; Agnes (or Perdita), Nanna Ogg and Granny Weatherwax and a quite odd preast, some birds and little blue men to try to save the Kingdom.

Got this in the mail today, will read it after the one I am currently reading. I didn't realise this was part of a series, I hope that not having read the rest of the books in the Discworld series, isn't going effect the enjoyment of this one. I am not really all that into Fantasy but I love Witches & Vampires, especially Vampires, so hopefully this one can be enjoyed alone.

I just couldn't get into this, I don't know if it's because I haven't read the earlier novels or what. I am going to go ahead and send this one on. Thanks for including me anyway.

Received this in the mail last night. I can't wait to start this. The last Terry Pratchett novel I read I laughed through most of it. Of course I have two other books ahead of it and it is also the holiday season. But, I will work to get to it as soon as possible.

I am finally reading getting to reading this. I'm about 1/4 of the way through it and I am laughing out loud again. I read one other book in the Diskworld series with the same set of little old aunt/uncle witches (they talk more like a dirty old uncle), that I also loved. I have got to find a few more Terry Prachett novels. I will finish it this week and write another journal entry.

Finished reading this on Saturday (1/17/04) - I loved it!! Made me laugh out loud a number of times. The characters are real but in a crazy fiction way. I love the Vampires in this book; they are funny and make you think – What would a 15th century person do to update himself or herself. My favorite characters were the blue pixies and Igor. I will be looking for another Terry Prackett book.

I will put this into the mail tomorrow.

Released on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Controlled Release in Annandale, Virginia USA.

Put this into the mail on 1/21/04. It is on it's way to the next person on the list. I hope they enjoy it as much as I did.
