Scottish Fairy Tales

This was a souvenier from the time I lived in Scotland, so it's a very dear book to me. Many BCers seemed interested in Scottish Fairy Tales, so I'm planning to start an international bookring.
Some stories and legends in this book are famous and others less well-knowed, but every one is illustrated.
Lots of Fairies, Princes, Witches, Fiddlers, Wolfs, Castles & Lakes... everything Scotland is famous for =]
All I ask it that evevryone that get the book glues a stamp in it, just a souvenier of it's travels.

Journal Entry 2 by arvoredeperas from Oeiras, Lisboa (distrito) Portugal on Thursday, November 13, 2003
Hello, I am very sorry I got the book a few days ago and I completely forgot to journal it. But here it is! And I found out that I've read it already, so I'll pass it on to the next eager bookcrosser.
I received this lovely book in the mail today. It seems like a fast and enjoyable read! I'll journal again when I'm done with it. :)
I've been surrounded by fairies, witches, elves, monsters, princes and giants these past few days. This was a very enjoyable read and I noticed some similarities between Scottish fairy tales and the ones we're used to hear about when we're kids, like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc. It was a little hard getting used to the language at first and there were times I had to resort to the dictionary to find one word or another, but it got easier as I continued reading.
Thanks Xana for arranging this BookRing! :)

Collected from the post office today - thanks! I married into an Irish family, so am interested to see if the myths and legends from Scotland are similar.

This was a nice book to keep dipping into, picking stories at random. A lot of the tales are familiar, with just slight variations to make them mopre "Scottish" - some of the words in local dialect were a little difficult to grasp.
This very intriguing-looking book has arrived - and I'll start picking my way through it a little each day right now. Thanks!
I very much enjoyed the longer tales at the start and end of the book but found the shorter ones in the middle quite difficult to maintain a reading flow through (not a problem if it's your own book and you can pick and choose stories at random). I found the stories which explained physical landscape features particularly interesting - and doesn't the Scottish landscape lend itself to supernatural explanation - all those misty moors! I was also surprised (althougth in retrospect it's obvious) that as well as fairy tales with references to England and Ireland, there were also a fair few which took their inspiration from the Scandinavian lands. Thanks for the opportunity to read this - I will be posting it on to hathyia later today.
This book arrived two weeks ago and i did not have time to register it....however i have finished reading it!!!!
Thank you for giving it to me to read ....though i have stayed in Scotland during my childhood years i never knew any fairy tales that came from this country....
This book will be passed on tomorrow at the meetup.....to Bukooch
