Thanks for the loan, Xana!!
This was a difficult book to read...Garp was some sort of anti-hero...oh how I wish to hit his head into a wall...a few hundred times during the novel :P But I loved Garp's story "The Pension Grillparzer"! :)
I read this book because of the advice of bc Marcenda, who strongly said it was the best book to read in this fase of my life... So, people, prepare yourselves! A new Elsita is borning!! ;)
I'll send it back to dear Xana as soon as I can...

Arrived today (ups! yesterday, I mean, but into my hands just today).
I have another big book ahead of this one, but I'll try not to keep it for too long...
Thanks a lot, Elsita.

Yes, it is a difficult book to read! And I've been having a difficult time with it and growing nervous, because of the TBR pile waiting for me.
It seems that I would like to read it a lot, but at the moment I'm feeling incapable of doing so, therefore it'll follow it's own way, and I'll contact NeferSand and send it to her or the next person on the list.
Maybe another time...
Thanks a lot anyway, Elsita, for the opportunity!

Sent to baretas today, once NeferSand's working on a too much too big TBR pile!
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
2nd attempt on this JE (the 1st one disappeared somehow).
I guess this book defines the novel genre... it grabs you by the curiosity of knowing that something will happen, but you just don't know what.
At the beggining I wasn't much into it, but later, as the action evolved, I was reading it everywhere :D
Bottom line, enjoyed it a lot. Thanks! :)
P.S.
Already sent a PM to Nefersand, for now I'm waiting for an answer.

I'm going to send a PM to nice2mice.

The End. It’s the best book I have read this year. I had seen the movie years ago, but this was much better.
Thank you Elsita, for the opportunity.
Seguiu hoje (12-12-2005) para QueenSissi.

It arrived yesterday... Thanks
Sorry for taking such a long time to read this book. I really took me a long time to read it.
I enjoyed reading this "invented" biography. It's unusual to find books that describe the life of the main character from even before being born until dying, giving details of the lives and deaths of other less important characters. I cried and laughed and got angry and thought about the role of women in nowadays' society. Not bad for a single thick book...
Couldn't reach Nefersand nor Elhurricane so I'm sending it to Luz-de-Luna tomorrow.

Wow... Er... What am I supposed to write now? (dazzled)
This book has given me so many feelings that I should have made a new journal entry every 100 pages or so! :-)
All of you who have already read it, certainly know what I'm talking about...
I loved it. I simply did.

Arrived here today! Thanks!
I finished reading this yesterday and I feel quite proud considering how thick it is!
While I was reading this novel, I was also listening to Irving's 'Until I Find You' in the car on audiobook, and it made me notice how similar his novels are. He always seems to have a boarding school, strange Mother/Son or older women younger men relationships, wrestling, prostitues and whores, and it goes on. Yet, I still enjoy his work!
Garp's third novel made me really terribly uncomfortable and I considered skipping over it. It was just so much gore, violence and sadness in such a few short pages. It made me wonder why Irving would write that as 'Garp'. Is that something Irving himself was not able to publish or too embarassed to publish?
In the end, I enjoyed this book and continue to be an Irving fan!
Sending to KarenBC this week.

Well, it seems the ray is stalled with Luintaurien, so I asked help from another bookcrosser who's going to replace the book and start a new ring with his copy.
