I enjoy a romance when the author either has command of the setting, a talent for imagery, or when I can learn something about an industry or lifestyle. For example: high detail on a wild mustang ranch, cultures of a nation different to my own, the characters can find peace with nature etc.

In this case I am enjoying learning about the Algonquians.

Soon to be finished and then I will release. Bought this copy from "The Book Rack" on S. Stratford Rd, Winston-Salem, NC. It is from a grab bag and it can't be retraded as the cover has been clipped. Very readable.

I collect quotes -- usually I look at the spot where I last stopped reading to find a passage that grabbed me. I thought I might share these with you.

Saturday, October 18th, 2003 -- By the front door, a small fountain gurgled, caught rays of sun and spilled rainbows onto the brick walkway. p200

Thursday, October 16th, 2003 -- But all the old complicated feelings were coming back, tumbling into a great big ball of confusion. [Sometimes it's good to look at cliches for the first time]

Wednesday, October 15th, 2003 -- "What if you're wrong and all that happens is you get hurt again?"
The she'd find out how strong she really was. p179

Tuesday, October 14th, 2003 -- A man like Bancroft peddled in opinion, in influence - bought and sold like commodities.
