I read everything I can get my hands on about Mormonism...ever since I took a History of American Religions class at UCLA - I've taken the tour of the Temple in Salt Lake (as much as they let you see) and stuff about the FLDS, well, that's a whole other ball of wax. While this book was not particularly well written, the subject matter is automatically compelling to me..

I was slightly disappointed as I was expecting more about actual ceremonies. Then again, that was probably an unrealistic expectation as so much about Mormonism is shrouded in mystery - which accounts for much of my fascination with it. I did learn a lot, though, and the part about life at BYU was particularly interesting - quite different from that at many other college campuses during the same period!
I was also shocked and saddened to learn of the author's death by suicide in 2000, as I did some internet research after reading the book. She had a difficult life.
