Journal Entry 1 by wingmeganhwing from Preston, Victoria Australia on Monday, March 26, 2012
I read this book years ago on a bookring. Acquired this recently, suitable for our upcoming Irish trip.
Here is what I wrote about it when I read it -
This definitely was a laugh-out-loud book! I loved all the descriptions - from when Tony was a young boy and took his toy machine gun to the football which then became his benchmark for the height of embarrassment,
until his triumphal entry in to Dublin (according to the radio broadcast that is).
I loved the term he was often called by the Irish he met on his travels - an eejit (which I assume means an idiot).
And I couldn't stop laughing about the surfing exercise - it was so well described you could visualise the endeavour.
When he was describing his desperate trip in the horse float, I had the feeling he was having a lend of us, but decided the humour was worth the creativity!
Very enjoyable, entertaining read.

Journal Entry 3 by JemimaMac at Carrick-a-Rede, Co. Antrim United Kingdom on Saturday, May 5, 2012
Found on the island at Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge on 18th April 2012 which proves I crossed the bridge! It is a happy coincidence that the book is about a trip round Ireland as we had just about finished our trip round the Emerald Isle, minus the fridge and with the luxury of a VW Golf for transport! We also found the people friendly and craic good, and aye he was a bit of an eejit. A enjoyable read and now I just have to think of a place to leave it in Bonnie Scotland for the next leg of its journey.
