Got the book. Thank you! It was one of the WBN reads that looked good. It can also be a 666 read for 2014, so adding to the 666 TBR shelf.
Change status. Book Club book later this year.
rabck from bookstogive; I had higher hopes for this one. The author certainly did her research, and it unfortunately showed. She kept changing from telling the story, to stopping and attributing something. She also had a habit of straying off the story line, to put a page or two discourse of her research in, such as about the beetle collection. While interesting, it just interrupted the flow of the story. I find it hard to believe that this book was chosen for WBN. This will travel on in the "maybe for someone else" bookbox.
Going out as a wishlist tag.

It was interesting to read about life in Warsaw during World War II told from the perspective of a Polish citizen. The books that I'd read before were Holocaust books focusing on life in the ghetto. This book describes the organized way many Poles helped the people in the ghetto. Life in a zoo from the perspective of the zookeeper's family provided a unique perspective. There was a lot of information about zoology, entomology, etc.

Happy Birthday, bethieb!
Happy Birthday, bethieb!
I've had this book on my shelf for too long and haven't been able to get into it. Time for it to get back out there and mingle.
I'll be in the area tomorrow for lunch and geocaching. I've heard that there's a new Little Free Library in the park - an Eagle Scout project - so I will leave this book inside.
