I've had this book on my TBR stack for a while, and got pushed into reading it because of MaryZee's Biographies of Things box.
I'm glad I read it - it was an interesting look at how six different kinds of drinks (not all alcoholic) have influenced and been affected by history. I was listening to Bill Bryson's At Home at the same time, and there were some interesting bits of overlap between the two books, particularly about coffee & tea, but I believe also about rum/grog.
Oh, yes, the 6 drinks are:
* beer
* wine
* spirits (distilled liquors)
* coffee
* tea
* Coca-Cola
