From the back cover:
In this award-winning collection, each of the 22 stories deals with some aspect of life's astonishing struggles and delights that we all endure. These are tales as quirky and disparate as their characters. Spare language, a poetic eye for detail, subtle humour and great depth of imagination combine to make each story a unique and empathetic experience.

Some of these stories are a bit odd but most are true to life and one can identify with many of the situations and emotions. Overall I enjoyed reading these stories.
Passing this one on to my sister, starrdust. Enjoy!
Picked this book up today when I saw my sister, Maranlin - - thanks for sharing this with me! I had a copy several years ago that I released for a Challenge without reading, and then later regretted not reading it as I have come to appreciate this author, Frances Itani. Look forward to this short story collection.
This was definitely an interesting collection of short stories. Some were quite unusual, even odd while others I greatly enjoyed and wished they were expanded into longer stories. I think Frances Itani is a talented author however I am glad that I read her other books before this one - - if this had been the first then I may not have bothered to read any more that she had written.
