Love and War in the Apennines

This didn't really grab me at the start - a bit 'boy's own' type wartime adventure-ish - but it got a lot more interesting. It's autobiographical, about the author's experiences as an escaped PoW in the Appennine mountains in Italy during WW2. Interesting insights into rural Italian life at that time - there is a short postscript at the back, when the author revisited the area in 1956, and found it already substantially changed - and into the huge risks that ordinary Italians took in quiet defiance of the fascist regime.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Taking to the convention where it will be released on the book table
Picked up from the book buffet, the idea of part travelogue part romance sounded interesting.
