Back cover:

"The car accident changed everything. Before, Anna knew who she was and what she looked like. But now she's a stranger to her family, her friends, and herself. She is no longer the pretty, popular girl who loves karate. Her body now betrays her, and she knows it will never be the same. All the layers that made up the old Anna -her looks, her friends, her sport- have been peeled away, leaving her to face the question of who she really is, and who she wants to be."

Very touching.

Pissed off teenager after a serious car-accident. For a while I felt pissed off about Anna's attitude until it becomes very humane. Fear and anger goes hand in hand. For traumatised and seriously injured teenager it gets overwhelming to the most extreme level. Luckily she has people in her life who really do care about her, even in her most difficult phases of the recovery.

And just for the record, having to miss black belt exam in karate for good is a big deal in a way which is difficult to describe. In real life too, anyone who is committed enough to be in that level of training, having to give up is devastating. In a way it's an ultimate goal you'll never reach.

I liked this quite a lot! It does a really good job at describing Anna's feelings and thoughts, she's a very believable character and I felt I got into her head. Even though it's a young adult book it didn't really feel like it, probably because the trauma and aftermath would be about the same no matter what age you're injured at.

I picked the book up at Hostel Adria in Bajnice. I read alot! So it was good to see there were books available for guests here.I read this moving tale in one afternoon, lounging beside the sea. You are both consumed by this young girl's pain and humbled by her courage. Well worth a read. This book is travelling around the UK now, who know's where it will end up...
