In the beginning of 2000s, I stumbled upon a website called NationStates.net, which is a nation simulation browser game. The game was linked to this book, and after a couple of years I found the book in a bookstore and bought it.

Although I stopped playing the game eventually, I really enjoyed the book, and I've read it for two or three times since I've had it. I'm really fond of dystopian novels, and I found Jennifer Government really interesting because the atmosphere and the mentality in the society described in the novel is rather close to those of some parts of the world we live in. Although the story is pretty light when it comes to the plot, I still think it can be considered as a kind of warning, if corporations are given more rights and priviledges at people's expense.

"In the future, the world will be run by giant American corporations. Everybody will be so happy, tax-free and rich that they will change their name to that of their company.

Hack Nike, however, is a lowly Merchandising Officer with negative career equity. In the future, this is not a good thing.

So when John Nike and John Nike offer Hack Nike a job marketing a new line of really, really expensive trainers he is understandably thrilled. He is less thrilled when he discovers that his duties include shooting teenagers."
