6 out of 10

In 1893 a young humpback whale swam into the Tay estuary all the way up to the Dundee docks. It was the first whale here in decades and most locals who flocked to watch it day after day had never seen one before. However, Dundee was a major whaling port at the time and eventually the animal is hunted down.

The story of Tay whale is interesting if a rather dispiriting one and I wish the writer had stuck to the facts. Now his outrage and moralizing was annoying, and I'm a vegetarian who is totally against whaling.
