Took me a wee while to get into as well but finished quickly once I got going. Not really my cup of tea unfortunately, felt a bit like an upmarket Catherine Cookson novel. I'm sure that many women's lives were just as unrelenting tragic as this (and probably still are) but it was just a bit too much for me!
