Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in Catching Fire, the second novel of the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy.
The beginning of this book was a little bit slow, but soon the tempo catched up. I must confess I wasn't as found of this book as the first one mostly because I had the feeling that it consisted of several small plots, part of the huge plot in the series, rather than having its own main plot.
Even though this book wasn't very impressive in having a red line through the story, I'm still looking forward reading the sequel. The more I get to know about the country, Panem, and everything about the Capitol's iron grip on the districts, the more I want to know about how things are going to end. This book was a perfect teaser for the final one.
