I was quite excited to score two copies of this gorgeous, practically new hardcover at a library discard sale for 25 cents each!!!
I haven't read any Brian Herbert (though I love his father, Frank Herbert!). As for Kevin J Anderson - I have read several of his novels and they are always entertaining. I am looking forward to meeting him at When Words Collide 2012 in August this year!
I haven't read this book yet, but am sending it off to Ontario in rureadings Bookbox to share with our Ontario BC friends. I know at least one or two of them enjoy Sci-fi and support our wonderful Canadian authors :)

I am looking forward to meeting him!
I hope whoever chooses this book out of the box enjoys it

I took this book out of the bookbox sent to us in K-W by the Calgary BookCrossers. I've been trying to read more works by Canadian sci-fi and fantasy writers lately and had no idea that Kevin J. Anderson was Canadian too! The When Words Collide Festival looks great, though unfortunately, Calgary is a bit too far away for me to attend. Thanks, Minerva101, for sending this book along and introducing me to another Canadian writer!

This is a space opera, the first of a trilogy, set mostly on a bleak and unwelcoming planet peopled with various outcasts and misfits. There is a vast array of characters but few of them exhibit any kind of depth. The good guys remain good and the bad guys are really evil. However, there are several interesting plot lines, involving political intrigue, murders and alien lifeforms, that kept me reading to the end.

I'm sorry I'd kept this on my shelves for so long. I will try to find another reader for it now.
