The Boys on the Rock

Retail purchase, currently in my TBR. I bought this book in 1997 or 1998 at a bookstore in Henderson, TX.. it has stayed with me all these years.
From the back cover:
Written with uncanny precision and wild humor, this is the story of Billy Connors, high school student in the Bronx, member of the swim team, and all-around regular guy, who in his sixteenth year has to face the fact that he's a little different from everyone else, a little "weird".
Though he's sort of going steady with a girl and popular at school, he's always worried that the secret fantasies he has about men would set him apart and make him "different" if anyone knew about them. How Billy faces up to himself--and his friends--as he discovers the complexities of life, the exuberance of sex, and what it means to be an adult in our imperfect world, makes for a touching, wise, and very moving novel.

I found this book to be very moving. Fox captured the thrill and passion of a first gay sex experience very beautifully, but this was way more than that. A bit of a love story, coming of age story, with just a touch of tragedy thrown in for good measure. I have had this book on my shelves for quite a few years, I'm so glad I finally got around to reading it!
Great book! I really enjoyed it. The writing style was a bit hard to read, but after a few pages it became bearable.
Now that my better half has read this, I shall be passing along... available until such time as I release it...
