This was not great, but it was a lot of fun ;-) I enjoyed it, and will read more.
And since Zack will be here soon, I'll see if he'd like to take it with, to while away a few hours while at sea.

Zack had read it, Chell is reading on her ipad, it has sat on patiently on the shelf... so now it's going into the Anything But Romance Shrinking Bookbox.
I'd read and enjoyed the "Harry Dresden" books some time back, so I'll leave this one in the box for someone else, but I did want to add my comments.
The series is a lovely mix of fantasy, horror, and detective story, with quite a bit of humor. Harry's got a nice dry, sometimes hangdog tone [well he DOES have a lot to put up with] that goes well with the magical adventures and all: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that there isn't an invisible demon about to eat your face." (I originally read this one in installments - it was my take-along book, for reading while waiting in line or at restaurants - and I kept snorting out loud ("So I have a problem with creepy, dead, poisonous things. So sue me.") and attracting people's attention.) Loved Bob, the talking-skull familiar ("Harry," Bob drawled, his eye lights flickering smugly, "what you know about women, I could juggle."), and am intrigued by Morgan the Warden...
[There's a very good audiobook version of this, narrated by James Marsters, and a TV-series adaptation that got good reviews. For more about the series, see the TV Tropes page - but beware of spoilers!]
