Journal Entry 4 by havfaith from Spokane, Washington USA on Wednesday, November 19, 2003
What an entertaining book! =) Mayle has definitely been around dogs enough to understand them! I laughed out loud throughout this book written from a dog's point of view.

I think I'll start a ring with this since there are so many BC animal lovers around! =)

Thanks again for sending this to me! Great book!

*This is my dog Mugsy! And no, I probably don't want to know what he's thinking all the time... =)

Journal Entry 8 by fizzfred from Sacramento, California USA on Wednesday, December 17, 2003
This book was very cute. Thanks so much for sharing, havfaith. It makes me feel a little guilty that my dog's life story is not quite as fun. :) Here is a picture of him doing what he usually does... sleep.

I mailed it out to illinicheme today. Enjoy!!!

Journal Entry 9 by illinicheme from Novato, California USA on Friday, December 26, 2003
Arrived home from the holidays today to find this book waiting. I'll journal again when finished. Thanks!

Journal Entry 10 by illinicheme from Novato, California USA on Monday, January 5, 2004
This was a delightful little gem of a book. I can't wait until I can finally own a dog of my own - it'll definitely be a Siberian husky for me! (Not sure my cat will be very happy with the inevitable addition to the family, but one of these days I'll finally be able to afford a place with a yard!)

Thank you everyone for sharing. The book will be on its way to ShyAnn as soon as I get an address.

Journal Entry 11 by ShyAnn from Oakdale, California USA on Monday, January 12, 2004
I received this in the mail on Friday from illinicheme:) (TY)

I will read it ASAP and make another journal entry when I have finished.

Journal Entry 13 by Eskielover from Olympia, Washington USA on Tuesday, February 3, 2004
I received this book in the mail today. Surprise a book for me, and not someone else. I'm a "dog nut", and I'm loooking forward to reading this. It's on the top of my TBR pile. Thanks for sending it my way.

Journal Entry 14 by Eskielover from Olympia, Washington USA on Thursday, February 26, 2004
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have observed so many of these actions and antics in my own dogs. Peter Mayle obviously loves and understands Boy very much to be able to describe the world so well from a dog's view. I'll try to get this book on it's way and in the mail this weekend. The accompanying picture is one of my rescues and also my baby, Sugar Bear!

Just got back from India to find this in my stack of mail. It looks like a cute book. I will get to it as soon as I can. Thanks for sharing.

Journal Entry 17 by arugh48187 from Highland Park, Illinois USA on Monday, April 26, 2004
Well, this one was certainly better than the last one I read that was from a dog's point of view. Although I didn't laugh uproariously throughout, it had a few chuckles in it. I had never before considered the procreational problems of stature in the perpetuation of a species. Interesting thought.

I received the book a few days ago and started reading immediately. At first impression, it reminds me of a mature version of the Hank The Cowdog series. I know I'll enjoy this book.

Journal Entry 24 by Agrace from Frisco, Texas USA on Tuesday, September 28, 2004
very enjoyable little book. I especially liked the episode with the neighbor's cat.

This arrived in yesterday's mail save and sound. Love the cute dog pictures included. I will include one of my dog.

I have one other bookring in front of this - but, I will get to this as soon as I can.

Journal Entry 26 by BooksnBeer from Pasadena, Florida USA on Monday, November 15, 2004
Very cute book. I definitely could see my dog in some of the chapters. I have a very smart long-haired Chihuahua. Sometimes her eyes and body seem to be telling me exactly what "Boy" is saying in this book. One criticism, I would have liked at least one more adventure. Maybe a trip to the Vet or relatives with kids. All in all, a quick cute read. I will be putting this into the mail tomorrow.

Journal Entry 30 by BarkLessWagMore from Merrimack, New Hampshire USA on Monday, December 20, 2004
I'm almost done! I apologize for the delay but the past week has been a whirl of social activity and I've been really stressed out being the hermit type that I am. I've PM'd the next in line and will have this mailed along to veritas9 before the week is through.

I love, love, love "Boy" and his witty observations about the "Management" but, eww, rolling in dead creatures just freaks me out and makes me cast a wary eye at my stinky retrievers . . .

Journal Entry 38 by wingcatsalivewing from Rooty Hill, New South Wales Australia on Tuesday, June 28, 2005
It wasn't what I was expecting either but it was very witty. He didn't come out of character once. I'd love to have heard Boy's take on de-sexing - that would make the cold thermometer as nothing.

Sherry enjoyed it too, and agrees with most of it, although being an elegant female she's much more refined in her tastes.

Posting to nikel27 today.

This has just arrived in my mailbox. Many thanks to havfaith for starting the ring and ecmwfinswe for sending on safely to me (and with a bonus RABCK too!).
I love the dog pictures inside and will add one of my dear old Punch (who died 2 years ago).

Journal Entry 45 by bluenoser from Eymet, Aquitaine France on Thursday, May 4, 2006
A quick, humurous read and I loved the accompanying drawings. It made me realise how much I want to have a dog again when I settle long enough in one place.
Victoria (of the feline persuasion) was very interested in the smell of the book and rubbed her cheek glands enthusiastically on the corners.
I started it this morning and finished this evening, so it will be on its way to jenvince tomorrow morning.

Received in today's mail.

Journal Entry 49 by Pyan from Menasha, Wisconsin USA on Wednesday, July 26, 2006
I'm almost finished -- really enjoying it, but haven't had much time since I'm having surgery Monday and been spending time bouncing from doc to doc and tests all month.

I anticipate mailing it to the next participant by Friday as we leave for Madison on Saturday to get settled in for the surgery. I PM'd Ellymae58 and she's asked to be skipped. Will PM sharalsbooks next to see if she wants it.

Journal Entry 50 by Pyan from Menasha, Wisconsin USA on Thursday, July 27, 2006
Waiting to hear back from Sharalsbooks. If I don't get it in the mail before I leave Saturday, I will as soon as I return from my surgery.

I'm really upset because I took the pictures people had placed in the book out because they kept dropping on the floor and I was afraid I'd lose them. I put them away "somewhere safe" and now my addled brain can't recall where. I do have them, and if I haven't located by the time I mail the book on, I promise to find after surgery. I'm pretty sure I placed them in another book in my reading queue, but the books were moved around by a well-meaning friend fixing up the recovery room. I'm really sorry about this, but I promise to make every attempt to find them before I leave.

I feel horrible that I can't find right away. *cries*

ETA: Pictures are found!!! Yay!

Adding a photo of Gypsy, our little (30 pound), Sheltie/Spaniel. She's 12 year's old, and she's been in command of Murphy since he entered our home at 3 months. She was a bit confused that he grew so big. LOL I remember when she used to haul him around the kitchen by the scruff of the neck as she mothered him (she was 1 1/2 years old when we got him).

Journal Entry 51 by Pyan from Menasha, Wisconsin USA on Friday, July 28, 2006
Well, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that I've found all the photos, and added pictures of my loves.

Bad news is that Sharalsbooks wants to be skipped so now I'm moving on to the next person. Hoping I can get this book on it's way tomorrow, but running out of time. If it's not possible, then I'll promise to send just as soon as I'm back home and able to.

There's still one more day so there's hope! In the meantime, I'll upload a picture of the love of my life; this is Murphy, my dear sweet Alaskan Malamute (all 140 pounds of him). He's almost had to be put to sleep twice over just this year, but he pulls through each time. This photo was taken back in July 2005. He's just waking up from a nap on our couch.

ETA: I've just PM'd TinkEsq, and will await her response. In the meantime, I'll add a photo of Gypsy, our other darling.

I don't think I even said anything about the book -- it's absolutely delightful, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it. I laughed out loud so many times; when I look at my dogs, I do have to wonder what they're thinking. It has lifted my spirits and made me smile. Thank you for starting the ring for us!

Journal Entry 52 by Pyan from Menasha, Wisconsin USA on Friday, July 28, 2006

I have just received in mail today, 2/2/2007. Hey it's Goundhog's Day! This book looks so cute and exciting already and I love the pictures everyone has sent along. I will add to it. Thanks.

Journal Entry 57 by nojokeva from Virginia Beach, Virginia USA on Sunday, February 18, 2007
What a delightful little book. It was fun and refreshing to read. The dog's philosophy of life was totally amusing. I do not have a dog right now but I will add my sister's dog, Lakota, to the photo mix. I believe he is a Siberian Husky and he currently lives in New Port Richey, Florida. Poor doggie is hot in the summer down there.
He likes to get on his hind legs, put his paws on your shoulders and look you right in the eyes. P.S. He is spoiled.
I will send this book on Tuesday because it is President's Day tomorrow. It is going back to the owner havfaith in Washington. Thanks for sharing your book.

2/21/07 update: my sister corrects me that Lakota is an Alaskan Malamute.

2/26/07-->this book was sent to havfaith on 2/21/07 and received 2/24/07, USPS # 03063030000318203271.

Journal Entry 58 by havfaith at Spokane, Washington USA on Friday, December 9, 2011
So sorry! I somehow missed journalling that this had completed it's ring! All the photos were so fun to look at. This book made the trip to Spokane and then sat in storage for a little over 3 years until I returned. I've been sorting through my shelves and drastically reducing their numbers lately. I dropped off over 300 books at Goodwill today. This one was set aside for wild release. =)
