Lured in by the cool cover, I was expecting a zombiefest worthy of a read. I was very disappointed. This book is trying so hard to a UK version of 'World War Z' and it doesn't even get close. I found myself bored when reading. BORED! When reading a book about Zombies! What!?

The way the zombies came into being is good, I can go with that. Having it written by different authors, is an interesting idea but doesn't quite work. It feels all over the place. And why do some zombies act well, zombie like and others are still writing down their thoughts on the situation? Thats what I really didn't like, that people had turned and were still 'Dear diary', WHAT? Didn't like it.

The best section in the book was from the old lady living it the Tower block. That was the most interesting story in there. Some others are alright, the teenage girl, the tweets. But some bits are really stupid, like the Zombie song lyrics.

And the ending???? So everyone is a zombie now but funtioning in a way we can rebuild society, as long as there are brains to munch on?

Overall, not impressed. Saved from the lowest rating by some okay stories in the book, but otherwise this is rubbish.

Well I was dissapointed in this book. I liked the consept of this that its written with social media/ texts/ emails and diary entry's . But I just felt like it was a knock off of world war z. I also found myself getting very frustrated and bored with this book

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I really enjoyed the book. It contains a very original idea in its structure and format, including diary pages, blog posts, personal letters, emails, instant messages, tweets, audio recordings, etc. In many cases you feel like watching a movie!
Now I am going to let it free to travel, and spread the joy to other zombies' fans!

I am sending it to the USA to sweet Emmejo, as a surprise pack, hoping that she will spend some relaxing reading moments together!

Your kind package arrived today; it was a wonderful surprise! Thank you so much! This book sounds interesting and I'm eager to try it, despite the poor reviews from other BCers, since I enjoy books written in this style, and I am eating some of the candies right now. I also liked the guide and map, it's fun to see those far-away places.

Journal Entry 10 by emmejo at Trumansburg, New York USA on Wednesday, April 5, 2017
I enjoyed this book more than the first two readers seemed to. Sure, it wasn't particularly original, but the plot proceeded briskly and enough of the characters held my interest that I stayed engaged even if I felt like I had seen many of these scenes before. I loved seeing the scientific attempts to rein in the plague, rather than just the hack-em-up approaches, but I personally felt like it made some of the knowledge gaps more obvious. The more technobabble I read, the more I wondered what the factors were that affected the types of transformations, and what more unconventional methods might have been used to break the complex zombie lifecycle. (Pet-style spot-on flea-treatment?) The ending made me laugh, but I share redfox5's doubts about the sustainability.

Heading out as one of the starting books in the Otherworldly Bookbox

Journal Entry 12 by wingGoryDetailswing at Nashua, New Hampshire USA on Friday, July 14, 2017
I'm claiming this from the Otherworldly Bookbox despite the mixed reviews. I find it hard to resist a zombie-apocalypse collection, and I like found-document/epistolary formats in general - though as I adored World War Z I will consider myself warned by previous JEs not to compare this book to that one!

Journal Entry 13 by wingGoryDetailswing at Nashua, New Hampshire USA on Tuesday, July 25, 2017
OK, not up to World War Z standards, but still enjoyable - at least in the beginning. I admit that some of the longer segments had me skimming ahead, though I did like the viewpoints of the young girl and the old woman, each coping in their own ways for as long as they could.

The origin of the plague was pretty good - I like the concept of still-virulent long-buried contagion - though the clouds-of-fleas bit seemed a little too much. I wasn't quite sure of the initial time-frame, either, having to keep checking the timestamps to see if things were happening as fast as it seemed they were; the diary-keepers and journalists and police sometimes wrote as if things had been going on for weeks when the timestamps still said days, so it bugged me a bit.

I didn't mind the concept that some people could retain self-awareness even after being changed, but it did get a little silly by the end of the book. Intentionally so, I imagine, but I didn't find it that entertaining. The early sections, with the growing sense of something-is-very-wrong-here, were my favorite parts.
