Bought at "Shakespeare and Company" in Paris. TBR.

Cover text:
It is now nine weeks since Dr Dowan Purcell vanished without trace. The sixty-nine-year-old doctor had said goodnight to his colleagues at the Pacific Meadows nursing home, had climbed into his car and driven away - never to be seen again.

His embittered first wife, Fiona, is convinced he is still alive. His second wife, Crystal - a former stripper thirty years his junior - is just as sure he is dead.

Enter private investigator Kinsey Millhone, hired by Fiona to find out just what has happened to the man they loved.

Enter also Tommy Hevener, an attractive flame-haired twenty-something who has set his romantic sights on Kinsey. And Tommy is a man with a very interesting past...

8 out of 10

Kinsey's 16th adventure is not as fast-paced as others, but nonetheless well-constructed. The appearance of the mysterious Tommy Hevener adds a second case to the one Kinsey is working on, and thus makes the story more complex.

We meet old friends in this story again - apart from the usual appearances of Rosie, William, and Henry, Kinsey's police contact Jonah enters the plot once more, and Dana Jaffe surfaces again (I think she's been in J is for Judgment).

This book will go out on a bookring tour on October 27.

Received the book today. Of course it's now on the first place on my list to be read. And I think there's a good chance for it to spend the rainy weekend with me and a cup of tea. ;-)

Naja, was soll ich sagen.

Wasn't that thrilling I expected. The pace of the book picks up a little bit about midway but I always had the feeling I could stop reading without missing a thing. ... howsoever ... I just passed the book to ferengie.

Have fun.

Another well written Kinsey Millhone...but not as good as some of the others I have read...this time I wasn't just sucked into the story as I was with some of the earlier ones...it was easy to put the book away and do something else...
