I found this charming, tiny peekaboo board book at the Book Cellar, and couldn't resist it. There's no text at all, just lovely illustrations of a fox exploring its surroundings. On alternating pages, the fox peers through a cutout at a fragment of the next page's illustration, and upon turning that page to reveal the full image, the cutout shows the view from inside to out. For example, on one page the fox peeps through a hole in a tree root to see a rabbit; on the next page we see the scene from the rabbit's point of view, inside its burrow with the fox-face at the hole. A bear den with bats on the ceiling, a tree inhabited by squirrels, badgers, and a hedgehog (whose prickles give the fox a sharp lesson on the overpage), and a henhouse are all featured, and while the illustrations of the latter suggest that the fox has to flee - there's a dog approaching fast! - the final page shows the fox curled up in its den, winking at the reader. Did it get a meal, or is it just happy to have escaped? Very cute little book!

[The book was published in Germany, but as it has no text I've used the English title instead of the German "Fuchs".]

Released 12 yrs ago (2/5/2012 UTC) at Massachusetts geocache (see notes for details) in -- Geocaches, Massachusetts USA

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I left this little book in the GC30TX7 Serenity geocache in Lowell, MA.

*** Released for the Becky's Hugs release challenge in memory of Becky. See also the Becky's Hugs page here. In addition to the book, I put a soccer-themed "Magic Towel" in the cache, since Becky loved soccer; since the cache is in a wooded area near a playing field with a game in progress I thought it was fitting! ***

My family and I we're geocaching and we saw this in the box and my daughter wanted the book so we traded a toy for the book! And my daughter loves the book!
