hmm... I read the first couple of hundred pages of this one, and althought it was ok I wasn't impressed enough to want to keep carrying it around in my handbag while i finished it! A bit slow for me.

I really enjoyed this book, the attention to detail makes it fascinating. I liked the way it puts a very human face on people & events during that period of history.

It has taken me a fair amount of time to finish this book. About 6 months if you can believe it. It had nothing to do with the book itself, but with the birth of my daughter Noor. You just don't seem to find as much reading time as before, but I'm getting better at it. I didn't want to give up on this book because I really liked it. In the beginning I struggled a bit because I had to get used to the writers style, but after that it was very enjoyable to read. Reading it in long intervals didn't make it any easier because it is a complicated book sometimes, but a great one never the less! Thanks for sharing it with me!!
