Happy BookCrossings!
In Depression-era America, everyone's running away from something. Some people join the circus to escape. Jacob Jankowski hitches a ride on a freight train and in that instant his life changes. By morning, he's landed a job with the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. By nightfall, he's in love.
I've picked this book for the favourites roundabout. It wasn't my absolute favourite of the year but that was too big and heavy to post and this came second.
This book was full of fascinating insights, wonderful (though not always lovable) characters and a story line that I couldn't put down. I loved the fact that all the anecdotes were taken from old circus history and I'd never heard of the great circus trains of mid 1900's America. It is obvious Sara Gruen has done her research and don't forget to read the author's note at the end. As they say, the truth is stranger than fiction.

On it's way in the ring.
I am looking forward to reading this book - I had a look at it several times, but still didn´t buy it as my pile of to be read books is so high. Hope it will be as good as I think it will be!
I enjoyed reading this book a lot and am definetely going to see the movie as well. The only thing I didn't really like was the ending - too American in my humble opinion. The book would not make the top of my favourites list, but it was a nice read.
Oh dear, I already had one copy of this book on my TBR pile, but then I went and watched the movie, had no inclination to read the book anymore (that always happens to me) and passed the book to my mother. Now I guess I have to give it a go anyway. Won't make any promises, though ;)
Well, it went just like I anticipated: I tried to get started, but since I've seen the movie and know the story, the book just didn't hold my attention. Sorry!
Arrived today together with elstaplador's favorite, which I'll consider as my April read. I'll read this one in May, or asap, whatever comes first :)
Thanks for sending and sharing!

Haha, I thought I would work during the 8 hour train ride of last weekend, but I made the mistake of opening this book. I just had to read and read and read; couldn't put it down! The story is very american, in my point of view, but it sure swallowed me completely. Before I knew I had arrived at my destination. Luckily, the book was just finished then too!
Although it will never be my favorite, I do respect writers that can produce a book that never lets you go. Thanks for selecting this book!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I guess we are waaaay ahead of schedule now, since this was my May book, but I am still sending this book on to the next on the list. Thanks for picking this one, earthcaroleanne!
Got this book as my June read and it will also probably not travel much earlier, as I donated some TBR books to the EU-1,001-VBB and most of the books donated were chosen. Will post it end June/early July.
The story was good entertainment and is that not what the circus is for. I actually liked the story in the present the best. Thank you for sharing this book, earthcaroleanne. It will soon travel to grovalskii.
The book is off to the next person in the round-about.
the book is with me now.
I read this book while on vacation and it was just the right type of book for some lazy afternoons. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing, earthcaroleanne!
Mailed the book out today to the next reader in the round about
Good choice for the favourite book roundabout! I read this book a while ago and liked it a lot - here's my journal entry: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/6447944/.
I'll pass this on to the next reader in the next few days.

The book arrived. I already read it though... Really liked it. I'll keep it with me for now. Maybe I can pass it on together with the next one in the roundabout to save on some postage.
Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for sharing it!
And off it goes to marsala.
And it arrived safely!
I've allready read this book, but it's only the first time that's happenend in the roundabout. I think it's a great choice! I loved the whole circus setting and like franaloe has said before, I don't think it will be one of my favourites, but it has definitely made an impression and I really enjoyed it.

On it's way to the last reader!
My last book in the Favourites roundabout! Thank you!
This, I think, is the last bookring that I have coming to me. I will think quite hard before I enter any more, at least for the foreseeable future.
Anyway, I sort of liked this book, but felt that I could have liked it more; it was an engaging story that fell short of 'delightful'. I found the constant use of the present tense breathy and irritating, and never really engaged with any of the characters. It felt a little bit superficial and clumsy. The villains kicked puppies (well, they didn't, but they would have done had there been any puppies around); the protagonist wasn't terribly interesting; the love interest's background was spectacularly unconvincing. I did like the background and the setting; Gruen had clearly done her research. Overall, though, it never quite won me over.
