Review
Rebecca Golden's Butterbabe describes a miserable childhood and a ballooning weight problem. At 32, Golden weighed 40 stone. She asked her sister whether she should risk gastric bypass surgery. "Hell yes," came the answer. "I don't want you to die." The cruelties of children - "the moose is on the loose!" - and the sheer difficulty of living with morbid obesity are painstakingly described, and Golden tells fine jokes, too --Daily Mail

I promised myself I wouldn't bring any books home but this caught my eye so it's coming back to Hampshire with me on Sunday.

Oh hey! I just realised I met you at the Porter's Lodge this morning!

Released 6 yrs ago (2/3/2018 UTC) at Knights Templar, Chancery Lane in Holborn, Greater London United Kingdom

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I'm taking this along to the London BC meet up at 12pm today, we'll be sitting upstairs by the bookshelves if anyone sees this and wants to join us.

Anyway, back to the book.. I picked this up at the Oxford convention nearly three whole years ago and only just got around to reading it.

I sort of enjoyed it, I felt she didn't really have much of a story to tell after all, there were snippets here and there that were interesting but not developed so it was hard to care very much about her. I gather this is her first book so perhaps that's just inexperience.
