This is the second book in the Beggars series. I would definitely recommend reading the first book before delving into this one.

This copy is an ex-library copy (hardback) purchased at the Friends of the Library book sale.

thanks for the bonus book, Rendiru! I love collecting and reading a series all in a swoop so this is a great deal for me! I will read these as soon as I can and keep them moving... I'll journal when done...

Though I enjoyed this one, I didn't like it nearly as much as the first. I found the story of Katous the genemod dog to be a little disturbing (though it did drive the point home). The characters of Billy, Alice and Lizzie were my favorite part of this book. The day-to-day society of the Livers and their attitude toward the donkey politicians was a little chilling. I kept trying to read into the author's political undercurrents and I couldn't figure out if this world was excessively conservative or excessively liberal. Either way, who really had control of whom? It made my head spin! And I really like that in a sci-fi!!

This one is taking a short detour to jollyroger and then it is up for grabs.
