From the back of the book:
On the fifth day of Christmas the girl in the old English folk song received five gold rings from her true love. As Julia commented, "What more could any girl want?". But it seemed that the disturbing Ivo van den Werff had no intention of offering any such pledges of his afffection to Julia. The only woman in his life was the fragile invalid, Marcia - and Julia could never compete with her! Was there anything she could do about the situation that confronted her?
