I've been enjoying this series about a lonely teenager who can see spirits since I first stumbled across it in Volume One, and have been picking up more volumes as I find them; I picked up this one from Barnes and Noble. It tends to be a gentle series, with touches of humor, creepiness, and poignancy, and I like it very much.

While most of the chapters can be read as stand-alone stories, there are longer-running arcs involving character-development; this volume picks up after the events of Volume Nine, with Natsume's growing realization that he might be able to trust others with his secret. The first chapter here presents him with a challenge: a boy claiming to be a former schoolmate of his, but whom Natsume doesn't remember - and who is talking about Natsume's monster-sightings...

Turns out there are yokai involved, but it seems that the boy, Shibata, is the potential victim. But when Natsume tries to warn him, he won't have any of it. Very poignant ending to this one.

Next up - another meeting between Natsume and the actor/exorcist Natori, and a rather risky venture in infiltrating a yokai festival. I love it when those two work together, and hope that Natori's more hardcore attitude towards yokai will continue to mellow as he gets to know Natsume. Lots of lovely scenes here, some scary, some delicate.

[There's an anime adaptation; I've watched several episodes and found it just as charming as the manga. Recommended! And the TV Tropes page is quite entertaining.]

Someone recommended this series a while back to me; I've watched about half of the series (though I'm about 40 episodes behind with seasons 4 and 5!). Favorite character of the anime is Nyanko-sensei.

Looking forward to reading this.

I enjoyed this one. I've been watching (very slowly! There's lots of episodes) the anime adaptation and I recognized the first story but didn't recall the second.

Will be holding onto this one a bit longer.
