I picked it up because I loved The Red Tent . . . . I found it more revealing than enjoyable, I had no idea some Holocust survivors were treated this way after "rescue".
"Anita Diamant, the best-selling author of The Red Tent, writes about the experiences of four women who survived the Nazi regime in Europe only to find themselves detained in a detainment camp in Haifa, in modern-day Israel. Diamant's novel is a fascinating tale about the aftermath of the Holocaust and the struggle that Jewish people of all nationalities faced as they worked to establish a new country."
